Leslie A. Coren (Stone) passed away on 21 November 2009. She was a fine player and one of backgammon’s galmour girls during the game’s salad days (1977–1981).

Leslie’s father, Tobias Stone, was instrumental in her interest in games including bridge, backgammon, and poker. Her greatest tournament success was winning the Black & White Tournament in Boston in 1980.

Leslie was laid to rest at the Star of David Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Florida. She is survived by her daughter Alex.

LEE GENUD REMEMBERS LESLIE
Arriving at my first big backgammon tournament in 1972 in St. Maarten, I was surprised to observe a skinny 13-year-old girl beating famed player Al Tesoro for a lot of points with great talent and confidence. I later learned that she was the daughter of Bridge Champion, Tobias Stone, a longtime friend from my bridge days.

Leslie and I grew to be close friends and traveled the world together attending major events. Leslie was also a great poker player well known for her stylish beauty and quick mind.
After I moved to Florida in 1986, our friendship renewed and I introduced her to her former husband, Richard Coren. She will be deeply missed by her many friends, of which I AM ONE.—Lee Genud, Fort Lauderdale, Florida [Lee was the world backgammon champion in 1981—Ed.]
