Shown here are six backgammon positions. In each one, Black is on roll and must decide whether or not to double. In 50% of the positions, Black should double and in the other 50%, he is not good enough and should simply roll the dice.

Circle the 64-cube in the three positions you think are proper doubles. To pass this quiz, you’ll need to get all three right.

Answers are correct by a minimum differential of 0.020 and have been determined by 2000 Snowie rollouts (3-ply, precise, full) with the doubling cube in play when applicable. For money games, the Jacoby Rule is in effect.
